I like matt mccormick. He's done a bunch of music videos for the shins sleater kinney and yacht but he's also done a bunch of experimental film stuff and theyre all real black humor-y and sarcastic. Like one is about how painting over graffiti is a form of subconscious art, and another is this found footage madness about polar bears and how they deal with being sad. This is the trailer for his first full length, and I guess maybe it's kind of a downer, but I bet it's gonna be beautifull.
Working with STEREO scientists, Semiconductor collected all the HI image data to date, revealing the journey of the satellites from their initial orientation, to their current tracing of the Earth's orbit around the Sun. Solar wind, CME's, passing planets and comets orbiting the sun can be seen as background stars and the milky way pass by.As in Semiconductors previous work 'Brilliant Noise' which looked into the sun, they work with raw scientific satellite data which has not yet been cleaned and processed for public consumption. By embracing the artifacts, calibration and phenomena of the capturing process we are reminded of the presence of the human observer who endeavors to extend our perceptions and knowledge through technological innovation. >>semiconductorfilms
I picked this up a few weeks ago from the always marvelous ghostcapital and I'm an addict. This compilation is insanely sexy/cozy/dreamy. if you know anything about angola, like me, you'd know that its music (particularly back in the 60s when this mix is taken from) is portugal brazil and cuba frosting on top of an angola cake (yep). take a gander at this scrumptiousness.
this was my favorite fantasy when I was a kid. I used to wear a nerdy little gold key on a pink ribbon and tiptoe around my backyard in American Girl nightgowns (I was a Samantha girl). this is the best kind of escapism.
